Do I have to wear shoes?
Yes shoes are required as you just never know what type of course we will run on. You may be running in mud, dirt, water or other surfaces where shoes will protect your feet.
What if I don't want to get wet but still want to participate?
Then come on out and be a volunteer. Contact Race Organizers Scott or Brian and ask how you can help.
Do I need to be able to swim to participate?
Yes. Unless you have a dedicated partner who will remain with you on the very short sections where swimming will be required. Life vests are recommended (not supplied) for those who cannot swim.
Should we bring a change of clothes?
Yes. We reccomend bringing a towel, dry shirts, pants, socks and shoes. Changing areas will be provided to change clothes in.
What things do we need to bring?
Tell your friends and family members to not forget their comeras and video recorders. While there will be professional photographers filming you, you may want some pics of you that the pros don't get. Also don't forget to bring your sense of adventure.
Are costumes mandatory?
No. But we do encourage participants to dress up. Several of the men wear their wives bikinis, skirts etc. Many of the women wear bikinis, and we also encourage body painting and or marking. We will have Magic Markers on hand if you wish to draw of write something funny on your body. No profanity.
Where do I park on race day?
There is plenty of free parking in the parking lots surrounding the River Parks West Festival Area.
How do I register for the Polar Bear Plunge?
All participants can register online or at RunnersWorld Tulsa at 4349 S. Peoria Tulsa OK, 74105. Entrants can also mail entries to RunnersWorld. Please click here for more registration info.
When is the last day I can register for Polar Bear Plunge?
You can register up till 15 minutes before plunge start. Online registration will end at 11:59 P.M. CST on December 30.
What is the age limit for the races?
There is no age limit to either the Polar Bear Plunge. However, it is recommended that young children be supervised at all times as it will be chaotic and very crowded.
What is the course time limit?
The course will remain open till the last walker comes through.
What type of costumes are allowed?
Any costume that will allow you and the entrants around you to run/swim safely is permitted. Many children attend this event so costumes should be PG or better.
