Kathy Hoover

I have been running for almost 40 years and have completed over 40 marathons, four 50 milers, five 100 mile races, several triathlons, adventure races, trail races and have been worked at RunnersWorld Tulsa for 26 years.  I have more experience in fitting running shoes and clothing than probably anyone in the Tulsa area.   I enjoy competing in marathons around the globe and have competed in France, Italy, London, Holland, Greece and even  Antarctica.  I am the founder of several races including the Race Into the New Year 5K and the Ladies First Skirt Chaser Race.

But the accomplishment I am most proud of is starting the RunnersWorld training program and growing it into the program we have today. We do not do it for money or notoriety, we simply love the feeling of being able to transform peoples lives and help them accomplish goals and lead a healthier life.

I started running in September of 2004. Since then I have completed over 35 marathon and beyond distance races, dozens of ultramarathons, and three 50 mile races. I have completed a triathlon and have competed in over 50 5K races.

My 5K PR is 20:26 and ran a 3:26:27 marathon in 2008. I am trying to qualify for the Boston Marathon with a sub 3:20 marathon time.

My true love is trail running. In 2006 I started a trail running club called TATUR (Tulsa Area Trail & Ultra Runners). We started with about 12 members and now have over 220 members. I started Tulsa's first ultramarathon in 2006 called Turkey and Taturs Trail Race. Since then I have created and/or directed several other races including the Tatur Estim8ur, Reckless Redneck, Tatur Mud Run, Lake McMurtry Trail Run, Tatur Snake Run, Mud, Sweat and Tears Adventure Race, the Mock Marathon, Tatur Poker Run and have been heavily involved in several other races and events to promote both road and trail running in the Tulsa community.

I have coached over 1,000 runners to reach a goal of completing a half marathon or full marathon Started a successful Big Loser weight loss program. I am the Long Distance Running Chairman for the United States Track and Field, co-owner of RunnersWorld Tulsa, served on the Executive Board for the Tulsa Running Club, serve on Tulsa Run committee, on the board of the YMCA, volunteer for Tulsa's finest timing services, Glen's Road Racing, serve on boards for Tulsa River Parks and Turkey Mountain Preservation Society, and try to find time to further help the great running community that Tulsa is blessed with.

If I had to pick one thing to focus on, it would be to become a full time running coach to help beginner runners reach their running and fitness goals. Their is nothing more fulfilling than congratulating someone for running a mile straight and then a few months later watching them cross the finish line and completing a marathon.

I also enjoy web design, photography and spending time with my beautiful wife Kathy and hanging out with my fantastic children Austen a high school junior and my daughter Morgan who is a sophomore at the University of Oklahoma.
