All Run Leaders
Bobby Michaels
As a former "Couch Potato", I was getting more and more out of shape (although round is a shape) and starting to feel the effects of an unhealthy lifestyle. My doctor had been advising me to start getting more exercise to help stave off high blood pressure, high blood sugar and try to shed some pounds. I took his advice and found the RunnersWorld running group and started walking/running in January 2007. It has been an awesome ride (or should I say run).
I have lost 40 pounds even though I still have not controlled my diet very well.
I now have completed several 5k's, the Tulsa Run (3 times), some half marathons (including Oklahoma City and Albuquerque, NM), 5 marathons (Oklahoma City, Route 66 twice, the Dan Man trail marathon and the Athens Classic Marathon in Greece) and one 50k ultra marathon at Sunmart in Texas. I am currently training for the Edinburgh Marathon in Scotland.
This is my third tour of duty as a run leader. I like to see people set a goal of completing a marathon and helping them along the way like I was helped.
I have made several new friends through running and hope to make more.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 31 years. She is the run leader for "Half Nutz" half marathon group. We have a 26 year old daughter and a 7 year old granddaughter. |
