Taturs at Turkey

Twenty-One Taturs met at Turkey Mtn for a group training run on Saturday December 1st.. Ken Childress led a group of runners for a 3.5 mile run on the east side of Turkey Mtn. Brian led another group who ran 8.3 miles of the new pink trail. We all had a great time and the rain that was threatening never materialized. We will meet at Turkey every Saturday at 8am until further notice. Please check the Tatur Chatroom to find out who is planning on being at the training runs.

Hundreds showed up to brave the sub 30° chill complete with a brisk breeze. Due to the construction on the Riverside trail, the run had to be re-routed this year. Everyone bundled up and had many things to be thankful for in 2007.

Route 66 Mock Marathon & Half Marathon

RunnersWorld Tulsa & TATUR will host a Route 66 "Mock" Marathon and 1/2 on Saturday November 3, 2007 starting at 8:00 am.
 
We will run the same course, start at the same time, serve some of the same foods, and try to emulate the real marathon as best we can. We will even have a timing clock set up at the start finish.  The course will be minimally marked so that you can run as many miles as you choose. 
 
For those of you going the full 20 miles, we will go south to Jenks before turning back north. We will provide limited aid along the course including bananas, pretzels, water and Accelerade. BYOG (Bring your own Gu's) d
 
The run will cover approximately 20 miles of the full marathon course and will start and finish at Veteran's Park. (21st and Boulder). Please note that the roads will not be closed to traffic so you will need to run on the sidewalks and trails adjacent to the actual marathon course.
 
With two weeks left before November 18th, we think this will be a great way to get in your last long run before the actual marathon.
 
We are anticipating a large crowd so please RSVP so that we do not have another "Chicago Marathon" incident where we do not have enough aid on the course. d 
 
There is no charge for this event, however if you want to toss a few "dead presidents" into the TATUR donation jar to offset some of the costs, we would not object.
