Sixteen Taturs participated in the Sunrise/Breakfast Hike/Run. While running through the woods we came upon a scary situation, we stumbled on to a.........We headed up the "mountain" at about 5:45am. We met Heather and Daniel Marancenbaum, two local doctors who are new to Tulsa. They stay in shape by hiking area trails. They were really cool and super nice. Greg Ohs and his wife Linda came out and ate breakfast with us on Turkey Mountain. They are great people.
We also met Mandy Hall who has already qualified for the Boston Marathon and wanted to run with us today. She is an amazing athlete. Mandy is getting excited about trail running and may be one of the elite contenders in the near future.

The Perils of Trail Running---Briars got Mandy's legs as we traipsed through the woods.
We also got to know Tom and Julie Dorothy better. They are a tight knit family who have three beautiful children. Tom is really fast!! The regular crew of Taturs came out and really enjoyed meeting everyone.

Great view of the Tulsa Skyline atop Turkey Mountain!!

We found a high spot on the Ridge Trail and ate bagels drank coffee and watched the 6:39am sunrise. Afterwards we went back to the parking lot and dropped our backpacks and lights and ran the new Turkey and Taturs 10K course.

The sun peeking up over the Tulsa horizon.
About a half hour into the run we saw a new looking red Honda in the woods. Strange place for a new car. It had not been rained on, so we new that it had been driven up there within the last 24 hrs. We hesitantly hiked over to it hoping that we would not stumble onto a dead body or something. The car had its drivers window busted out, tires stolen and the trunk and the vehicles contents were strewn about. We called the police and hoped that it was only stolen then hidden and abandoned. It was quite a chore explaining to the police where to find the car since it was in the middle of the woods.

Before we finished our run we ran into some friendly faces on the trail. First we saw Tatur Kathy Ostrem running the trails, then we saw Tatur Jane McClain after her training run. We were hot and sweaty and decided to call it a day. What a great way to spend the morning.
