TurkeyMountain Wilderness Area at the Westside YMCA


Mark and clear your calendars. The TURKEY and TATURS 50K/25K/10K is exciting and new to the Tulsa Area. It is scheduled for Sunday, September 17th. It will attract some of the most elite trail runners in the area and will showcase the amazing trails that we are lucky to have at Turkey Mountain. This will be a costly endeavor and we hope to get support from the local running community and you all to help fund this race. Most of the people who ordinarily enter races of this genre do not commit/pay until one to two weeks before the race.  This is way too late to advertise, order shirts, awards, buy aid station supplies and post race meals.

So in other words we need money and lots of it.  I predict that if we do this race the right way our costs will come close to $5,500.  So we need to raise money and these are the ways that we will try to accomplish this task:

#1) Sponsorship $: This is money that is gained by promising advertisements on tents/banners, race shirts, start/finish line banner, race brochure, bibs, directional signs, and TV/radio ads if the $ is big enough.  This will be divided into major (over $250) and minor (under $250) sponsors.

#2)Donation $: This money gained by individuals or companies agreeing to pay for the shirts, Gatorade, candy, advertising etc. without wanting anything in return but maybe a thank-you letter or their names on a donors list posted at the race.

#3)Loaner $: This is money gained by the promise (verbal and/or written) that the money will be re-paid after the race is over or once we receive enough fees from entry forms.
#4) Fundraising $This is money raised from bake sales, car washes, walking the neighborhoods with signs etc.
If each member could raise $100 we would have enough $ to put on a great race and donate a large sum to our major charity, the Westside YMCA.

Other than money we need several other supplies, services and goods. All of these amounts are simply a guess of the cost if we have to buy all these goods and services.  Hopefully you or others will agree to donate these goods/services or donate the estimated value to purchase these items.  This is the needs checklist:
